6th Nov’22 Cape Breeders Report:
Varsfontein Stud’s champion sire Gimmethegreenlight had a day to remember at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Not only is the son of More Than Ready sire of Saturday’s Listed Laisserfaire Stakes winner Kwinta’s Light, another daughter, Pacific Green, caught the eye when victorious in the fourth race at Kenilworth.
Trained, like her sire, by Justin Snaith, consistent four-year-old Kwinta’s Light had finished fourth in the G3 Hollywoodbets Diana Stakes last time out and went one better when she won Saturday’s Laissefaire Stakes (1100m).
Under an inform Richard Fourie, Kwinta’s Light came with a strong late run which saw the filly power past her rivals and score, going away by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Syrilla Stud, Kwinta’s Light is out of the Kahal mare Kwinta.
Now a three time winner from 15 starts (she had finished runner up in the Listed TAB Perfect Promise Sprint at two), Kwinta’s Light is the 45th stakes winner for Gimmethegreenlight, South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021.
The son of More Than Ready had a fantastic day on Saturday, with Gimmethegreenlight not only responsible for two winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth but also sire of two winners at Borrowdale Park.
Gimmethegreenlight had also gone close to recording a graded race double at Turffontein last weekend where his son Shoemaker finishing second in the G3 Allied Steelrode Graham Beck Stakes and daughter Gimme A Shot running third in the same day’s G3 HSH Princess Charlene Starling Stakes.
Laisserfaire Stakes success for Gimmethegreenlight
