21st Oct ’22 Cape Breeders report:
Maine Chance Farms’ prominent sire Querari looks to have yet another talented daughter to his name in the form of Bonete.
That three-year-old made a sparkling debut at the Vaal on Thursday when Bonete romped home to claim the Furious Room Now Open Maiden Plate (1450m) in taking fashion.
Under Randall Simons, the Mike de Kock trained Bonete justified plenty of pre-race hype when running away to score on debut by four and three-quarter lengths.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Bonete is out of the Fort Wood mare Ilha Bela.
She joins a growing list of classy fillies sired by Querari, whose star daughters thus far include G1 Thekwini Stakes queen Querari Falcon, and fellow graded stakes winners Caya Coco, Cockney Pride, Cosmic Light, Galla Vanting, Gobsmacked, Homely Girl, Maryah and Supreme Quest.
Another daughter, Champery, is the dam of last season’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas winner Chansonette.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs last season, Querari has nine two-year-olds catalogued for this month’s Cape Racing Ready To Run & 2YO Unbroken Sale, and five lots on offer at the 2022 November Two Year Old Sale.
