High hopes for Gimmethegreenlight relative

Varsfontein Stud’s champion sire Gimmethegreenlight is closely related to one of the most exciting fillies currently racing in Australia.
Promising three-year-old Cinderella Days made it three wins from just four starts when making all to win over 1250m at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Cinderella Days defeated the tenacious American Pharoah colt Cool Kaap by a long neck, with a further six and a quarter lengths back to the Casino Prince colt Surfers Royale in third.

Trainer Joe Pride said after the impressive win that Cinderella Days would likely spell with an eye to the 3yo riches in the autumn after taking her record to three wins and a third from four starts.

A homebred for David Bentata, Cinderella Days is a half-sister to G3 VRC The Bart Cummings winner Persan (by Pierro) and she is out 2012 G1 ATC Coolmore Classic heroine Ofcourseican.
The latter is a Mossman half-sister to Gimmethegreenlight -South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021.

Gimmethegreenlight’s legacy looks set to grow further in the coming years-not only is he broodmare sire of last season’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Sweet Pepper, his five time G1 winning son Got The Greenlight recently had his first mares test safely in foal.
